Wine
Torbreck The Steading is a GSM sourced from many different vineyards, some over a century old. The wine professes to the winery's philosophy of protecting the Barossa Valley's most ancient vines.
It is mostly Grenache, with smaller amounts of Shiraz and Mataro. The grapes from individual blocks are destemmed separately into both wooden and concrete open fermenters for 6-7 days with twice daily pump overs.
After basket pressing the wine is racked to seasoned French oak hogsheads for malolactic fermentation. Following 20 months ageing on fine lees, the wine is blended and bottled without fining or filtration.
Crimson red, Torbreck The Steading has succulent dark fruits with layers of savoury earth and exotic spice interwoven with acidity and supple, silky tannins. Cellaring potential is seven years.
